Family Cooking Camp

(Tuesday, May 6): How Not To Starve: Basic Cooking for Teens and the Uninitiated

Whether you are new to cooking or new to cooking for yourself, come learn some basic skills and easy meals perfect for the dorm room.

Even if you have had meals made for you up until now or you just want to learn how to do it yourself, come learn some quick and easy recipes you can make with limited space, experience, or resources. All you need is a microwave.

We’ll go over:

2 healthy recipes you can make with ease

Basic knife cuts (dice, julienne, slice)

Food safety

(Wednesday, May 7): College Prep | Your College Roadmap

“Your College Roadmap” is a library program designed to guide teens through the complex process of choosing a college. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, explore different college options, and learn about key factors such as applications, financial aid, majors, and campus life. With expert advice and helpful resources, the program provides a clear, step-by-step approach to making informed decisions. Whether students are just starting their search or finalizing their choices, this program equips them with the knowledge and confidence to take their next steps toward higher education.”

(May 13): Gwinnett County Police – Badges & Youth Education Program

“Join our Badges and Youth Education Program!
Once a month, high schoolers are invited to connect with us at precincts across Gwinnett for interactive sessions on a variety of topics!
Each class covers a new subject, giving students a chance to learn, engage, and explore topics they’re most interested in.”

Ages: Grades 9-12

May 13: Drug Awareness & Drowning Prevention

August 12: Personal safety and Explorer program

September 16: Criminal Procedure, when do you have to provide ID and what is a Terry stop?

October 14: Alternate Communications Center and Q&A with the Chief

(Thursday, May 15): Teen Advisory Council at the Library

“Join us for our monthly Teen Advisory Council (TAC) meeting where you can help with library programs and earn volunteer credit!

TAC is a library volunteer club that meets once a month for teens! TAC members assist with creating and planning library teen programs. Volunteers earn 2 hours of volunteer credit for every 1-hour meeting.
