Ages 9-18 ~ Scary Story Contest and the Braselton Library
‘Tis the spooky season here at the Braselton Library! We’re having a spooky story contest and would love for you to submit your story! Drop by the library to pick up graphic organizer and/or themed paper to write your story on! We will accept hand-written or typed submissions. There is a 500 word limit on submissions, open to ages 9-18!”

“All Georgia K-12 public, private, and home-schooled students are eligible to participate in this year’s GLET Cybersecurity Awareness Poster Contest. First-place finalists will receive prizes and a chance to meet State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
(Event on November 8): 48-Hour Film Competition with Library (Ages 12+)
“48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and upload a film! Participation can be done completely virtual! It is not mandatory to attend in-person registration. Registering here will sign you up for competing, and the registration form will be emailed on the 8th. In-person registration is at 6pm at the Duluth branch and will have games and an opportunity to win a special advantage… The element that must be included in the film will be announced/emailed at 7pm. Films must be uploaded 48 hours later.
The films will be screened the following weekend on Saturday the 16th!”
(All Ages) ~ Georgia Festival of Trees Gingerbread Scene Competition
Here is a fun competition for all ages—the Georgia Festival of Trees Gingerbread Scene Competition! There are categories for youth, teens, adults, and professionals. The competition will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center, with entries open from October 16 to November 19, 2024.
“NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia is inviting students in grades K-12 to participate in the 2025 NASA Langley Art Contest, using the theme “Our Wonder Changes the World.” The contest is open to children who are residents of the United States and currently in grade K-12 We are asking schools, organizations, and community groups to encourage parents and teachers to submit one entry per student. A grand-prize winner will be selected from all entries and a first-place, second-place, third-place, and honorable-mention winner will be selected for each grade level.”
Theme: This year’s theme is “Our Wonder Changes the World” and encourages students to recognize the power of curiosity and the question, “What if”?
Timing: The Art Contest submission period begins Dec. 1, 2024 and concludes on Dec. 31, 2024 at midnight EST.

The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is a worldwide competition where teams create machines from found or discarded household items. The 2025 task is: Feed a Pet!

This year’s Theme: Make My Dream Come True! – tell us about a dream you had with your art.
“Winners will receive prizes, and first-place winners will have their art featured on the May/June cover of the appropriate U.S. Kids magazine. In addition, U.S. Kids will make a donation to the art department of the winner’s preschool, elementary, or middle school or other 501(c) 3 nonprofit art program. First place: $500.00 Second place: $250.00 Third place: $100.00″
Kids 13+ – Ranger Rick Photo Contest Kids 13 and under can enter any nature-themed photo they’ve taken on their own using a camera or phone camera app. Every month, winners will be selected by the judges and posted on the contest homepage in the Recent Contest Winners slideshow. Online winners will be in the running for Ranger Rick’s “Your Best Shots” Magazine Award. Magazine Award winners will be selected three times each year for publication in Ranger Rick magazine’s December–January, April, and August issues.
