JQA drawing contest

Ages 7-15 ~ JQA International Environmental Children’s Drawing Contest ~ Children are invited to create a hand-drawn piece of art that reflects this year’s theme, “Passing on Our Precious Earth to The Future.” Artwork is limited to being 257×364mm or smaller. (In inches: 10.1×14.3)

All entrants will receive a participation prize. Fifty-three winners will receive special memorabilia.

You can mail your artwork to the JQA office in Japan or submit it digitally. Entries are due to JQA by May 31, 2024.

High School Students – Jane Austen Essay Contest

High school students can win up to $1,000 in scholarship money by writing an essay on a new Austen theme each year, sponsored by the Jane Austen Society of North America.
Essay winners are eligible for cash prizes up to a $1,000 scholarship and complimentary registration + two nights’ lodging for JASNA’s upcoming Annual General Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio.

DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2024

Ages 19 and under ~ Get to Know Contest  ~ Students are asked to get outside and create works of art inspired by nature. Entries may include art, photography, writing, music, or video. Students may submit up to 10 entries per category.

Prizes include adventure swag, such as binoculars, buddy packs, and art supplies.

Entries must be submitted online no later than June 1, 2024.

Ages 10-14 – Scholastic Kids Press Is Now Accepting Kid Reporter Applications!

Application Deadline: June 1


Know a kid with a talent for writing and a passion for journalism? Encourage them to apply to the award-winning Scholastic Kids Press program!
Students must be ages 10–14 to be considered.
Applications must be received by June 1!

Scholastic editors annually select Kid Reporters based on writing ability, interviewing skills, and attention to detail. The new Kid Reporter team will be announced in the fall.

Ages 11-18 ~ Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Contest ~ For the 13th year, Bow Seat encourages students to learn about environmental issues through art and communication. The theme for 2024 is “Tell Your Climate Story.” Students should creatively express their personal experiences, insights, or perceptions about our changing climate reality.

Original content may be presented as visual art, creative writing, film, interactive and multimedia, performing arts (music and dance), or poetry/spoken word.

Winners are eligible for cash prizes up to $1,000.

Submit your artwork online by June 10, 2024.

Ages 12+ – Nailed It! Cooking Competition – MUST REGISTER

Want to recreate viral recipes, and learn important cooking skills while doing it? Join our Nailed It! style cooking competition, where we?ll use simple ingredients to create trending meals!

This program is designed for ages 12 and up. Registration is required. When registering for this program, each attendee must be added to the registration slot in order to attend.

Registration opens: May 13th, 2024

Ages 11-15 – Pokemon Pixel Paint Competition – Must Register

“Team up with fellow trainers to color a generation 1 starter pokemon!

Kids will unite into teams to help bring a GEN 1 pokemon to life through art!

This program is intended for kids 11-15.”

Kids 13+ – Ranger Rick Photo Contest

Kids 13 and under
can enter any nature-themed photo they’ve taken on their own using a camera or phone camera app. Every month, winners will be selected by the judges and posted on the contest homepage in the Recent Contest Winners slideshow. Online winners will be in the running for Ranger Rick’s “Your Best Shots” Magazine Award. Magazine Award winners will be selected three times each year for publication in Ranger Rick magazine’s December–January, April, and August issues.
