Memorial Day Ceremony at Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium

“UPDATE: Due to forecasted inclement weather, the ceremony has been moved indoors to the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center auditorium.

Please join us in remembering our fallen military and public service heroes at our annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Attend in person at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville or right here on Facebook Live at 1:00pm.

Fallen heroes, Gwinnett County Police Officer Pradeep Tamang and Dekalb County Police Officer David R. Rose, will be inducted into the Fallen Heroes Memorial during the ceremony. Gwinnett County Police Officer Pradeep Tamang Badge #2741 was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, February 1. He joined the Police Department in July 2024 and graduated from the 121st Police Academy in May 2025. Dekalb County Police Officer David R. Rose was killed in the line of duty Friday, August 8, 2025, while responding to a call involving a reported gunman near Clifton Road and CDC Parkway. Before joining DeKalb County Police, Officer Rose proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps, including a deployment to Afghanistan. He was a Gwinnett County native.

U.S. Army combat veteran, technology executive, and public servant Marline Thomas will provide the event’s keynote remarks. Born in Puerto Rico, she served nearly 12 years on active duty in the United States Army, including service during Operation Desert Storm. She currently serves as Head of Information Technology and Cybersecurity for Yamaha Motor USA. In addition to her private‑sector leadership, she serves her community as Councilmember/Mayor Pro Tempore for the City of Duluth, Georgia. She is a Leadership Gwinnett graduate, and a board member of View Point Health. Marline’s career reflects her commitment to service, leadership, and honoring the sacrifices of those who have served our nation.

Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, District 1 Commissioner Kirkland Carden, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III, and District 4 Commissioner Matthew Holtkamp will provide remarks. A combined public safety honor guard will also participate in the ceremony.
