Did you know?
Mexican Independence Day commemorates the start of Mexico’s fight for independence from Spanish rule. On September 16, 1810, Father Miguel Hidalgo issued the “Grito de Dolores,” a call to arms that sparked the Mexican War of Independence. It took over a decade of fighting before Mexico officially became independent in 1821. Today, it’s celebrated with music, dance, food, and pride in Mexican heritage and culture.
