Captain Josh Morris is a beloved leader, mentor, and friend within the Lawrenceville Police Department. In addition to serving as our Patrol Captain, Josh serves as our Department Chaplain, dedicating his life to supporting officers, their families, and our community during life’s most difficult moments.
Now, Josh needs our support.
Recently, Captain Morris suffered a devastating accident at his home, shattering several vertebrae and resulting in a serious spinal cord injury. He is currently receiving specialized treatment at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where he is expected to remain for several weeks as he begins a long and challenging road to recovery.
As Josh prepares for his return home, extensive renovations will be needed to accommodate the lasting effects of his injury.
To help offset these expenses, the Lawrenceville Police Department is hosting the 2026 Battle of the Badges BBQ Fundraiser!
Purchase a BBQ Plate or simply make a donation to support the Morris family. Every dollar raised will go directly toward renovating their home to meet Josh’s needs. You can purchase the day of the event or pre-purchase a ticket utilizing the QR code.
Battle of the Badges
When you purchase a BBQ plate, you’ll also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite participating agency. The department receiving the most votes on August 29 will take home the coveted 2026 Battle of the Badges Trophy!

Gwinnett County Police Department
Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office
Barrow County Sheriff’s Office
DeKalb County Police Department
Whether you come for the BBQ, cast your vote, or simply make a donation, your support will make a meaningful difference for Josh and his family during this difficult time. Donations are also being accepted at the Lawrenceville Police Department.
