Clocks SPRING FORWARD Today!
March 12 @ 12:00 pm
“Spring forward” is the common name for the practice of advancing clocks by one hour (at 2:00 a.m. local time) to create more daylight in the evening during the summer months.
Did You Know? … DST FACTS:
1) Daylight Saving Time (DST) was first proposed by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 as a way to conserve candles.
2) The first country to implement DST was Germany during World War I in 1916, and many other countries soon followed suit.
3) The United States adopted Daylight Saving Time in 1918.
4) In the United States, the Uniform Time Act of 1966 established a standardized system of DST, which begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.
5) Some states and territories in the United States, including Hawaii, most of Arizona, and the territories of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa, do not observe Daylight Saving Time, while others have proposed bills to abolish the practice altogether.
