Above Athens Balloon Festival (Athens)

“The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will host the third Above Athens Balloon Festival on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Sandy Creek Park – 400 Bob Holman Rd.

The event will begin at 3:00 PM and will conclude with a balloon glow at approximately 8:30 PM. See beautiful balloons up close! Other highlights of the event include tethered balloon rides, food trucks, and free children’s activities.

Thank you to our partners at the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and traffic engineering for their help in creating an improved traffic plan, which will provide a better experience for this event.

Park Entrance:

• This is a CASH ONLY event.
• This is a NO PET event. If you bring a pet to the festival, you will not be permitted to enter the park.

There is no charge for entry into Sandy Creek Park on the day of the festival. Tethered balloon rides will be available for $25/person (cash only) and are subject to weather conditions. All individuals who enter the balloon area must sign a waiver.

Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs.

All activities are weather permitting. There is no alternative date if the event is cancelled due to weather.

Sandy Creek Park will be closed to the public on Saturday, September 30, 2023 prior to the Above Athens Balloon Festival.”
